Who Makes Them

Made by hand, by the women of our society.

Nothing here is machine-made or bought in. These are the crafts our members work in, day after day, in the workshops behind our store.

Kantha Stitch

Kantha Stitch

Fine running stitch worked through layers of cloth, the way it is done at home in Bengal. We use it on boxes, diaries and pouches.

Terracotta & Clay

Terracotta & Clay

Local clay shaped, dried and finished by hand into key holders, small figures and jewellery sets.

Epoxy Clay

Epoxy Clay

Moulded and painted one at a time — wall clocks, showpieces and miniature figures with hand-mixed colour.

Sabai Grass & Bamboo

Sabai Grass & Bamboo

Grass, jute and bamboo woven into baskets, pen stands and boxes. No two pieces come out the same.

Batik & Uttoriyo

Batik & Uttoriyo

Wax-resist dyeing and hand-finished edges, kept as our textile line of stoles and throws.

Wall Paintings

Wall Paintings

Brushwork on board for bare walls — horses, flowers, deities and everyday village scenes.

Their Stories

We keep the women's names and photographs private.

If you would like to know more about who makes a piece, ask us in the store or on WhatsApp — we are happy to tell you. If you have photographs of the workshops you would like to see here, send them across and we will add them.
